Newcastle Black Gate

The Black Gate is the barbican entrance to The Castle in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Also known as Newcastle Castle, which I always think sounds a bit daft!

6 years ago today, on 5th January 2018, I joined DeviantArt, and this was my first ever deviation. No specific reason for its choice; just my usual random selection process. And this first submission had its first favourite from newcastlemale, aka Graeme Pattison, appropriately enough a man from Newcastle, as you may have already surmised from his username! 6 years and 5,021 deviations later Graeme is still favouriting my submissions - clearly he's a glutton for punishment!

So thank you from the bottom of my heart to Graeme and all my other followers on this still (largely) wonderful site. I never imagined that joining an internet art-based community would have such an impact on my life over these last 6 years, but it most certainly has; and long may it continue!
